Abstract

1,255,920. Ventilator for web-dryer. VALMET OY. 13 Aug., 1970 [9 Sept., 1969], No. 39004/70. Heading F4G. A device for ventilating the pockets 5 of multicylinder web driers which incorporate porous felt drying rolls 4 comprises a partition 7 and a flap 7<SP>1</SP>. The pockets 5 are formed by two free runs of the web 3 to be dried, the surface of a large roller 1c and the felt roll 4. The partition 7 extends parallel with the rollers, radially from the felt roller 2 and between the web rollers 1a and 1b. Several sections 7<SP>1</SP> are hinged at 8 to the partition 7 so that their ends remote from the hinge are close to the felt roller 2 when they are in the position shown to the left of Fig. 1. In this position, a non-cyclic air stream in the direction ADC is produced but in the position shown to the right of Fig. 1, a cyclic flow ABDC results. Three further embodiments comprise an additional set of air ducts (9), Figs. 3, 4 (not shown); a box-like partition (7), Figs. 5, 6 (not shown), and vertically sliding sections (7<SP>1</SP>), Figs. 7, 8 (not shown).
