An air humidifier comprises a water container 2 having a rotor consisting of a helical tube 3 and an axially-extending tube 6 mounted for rotation therein and through which a heating fluid is passed so that water on the surfaces of the rotor wetted by rotation is evaporated. The axially extending tube 6 is in two halves forming a supply and return passage for the heating fluid. The heating fluid is preferably steam and the supply of steam may be arranged to drive the rotor.
