Abstract
768,310. Purifying water by ion-exchange. PERMUTIT CO., Ltd. April 1, 1955, No. 9581/55. Addition to 699,666. Class 46. The water from the anion-exchange material (or mixture of cation- and anion-exchange materials), 17, of the parent Specification is delivered, at a rate greater than is required for use as make-up water in the plant, to a control valve 18 which allows most but not all of this water to enter a condenser 25. The excess water flows up a pipe 26 to the surge tank 27, and in consequence of the resulting continuous flow back to the sump 15 along the overflow pipe 23 the surge tank need not be baffled or otherwise constructed to keep the water out of contact with the atmosphere. The water pumped at 28 from the condenser 25 is still in excess of that required by the boilers ; the amount actually required passes through a deaerator 24 while the excess flows up a pipe 29 to the tank 27. Specifications 553,233 and 694,778 [Group IV(a)], are referred to.
