The subject matter of this Specification is identical with that described in Specification 1,253,926, but the claims are concerned with the relief of pressure from behind the thrust plate and the balancing of the hydraulic forces on the opposite sides of the wear plate 27 in the high and low pressure zones of the pump, slight over balancing in one part of the intermediate pressure zone and slight underbalancing in another part thereof, to reduce friction forces between the end faces of the gears and the wear and thrust plates and hence reduce wear on the pump parts.
