1,253,892. Silver dye-bleach process. AGFA-GEVAERT A.G. March 27, 1969 [April 4, 1968], No. 16077/69. Heading G2C. A process for the production of coloured photographic images by the silver dye-bleach process comprises exposing a photographic material which has at least one silver halide emulsion layer which contains an azo dye, - developing, bleaching the dye and bleach-fixing, in which the silver halide emulsion used has a molar ratio of silver (in the form of silver halide) to each azo bond of the bleachable azo dye of at least 12:1 and in which development is carried out with ap-phenylenediamine developer solution. which contains at least 15g. per litre of sulphite. The silver halide emulsion preferably has a silver content (as silver halide) of at least 10g. per kg of emulsion before the addition of coating additives. By this process coloured images having a fine grain and low gradation and silver halide emulsion layers of very high sensitivity are obtained.
