Abstract
1,252,664. Cooling by circulation of fluids. CATALANA DE GAS Y ELECTRICIDAD S.A. 13 Jan., 1969 [11 Jan., 1968], No. 1993/69. Heading F4U. A closed heat-transfer circuit in which a fluid is condensed at 1 by a source of cold (e.g. a regasifying plant for liquefied gases) and cools a load 10 by evaporation, includes a heater 5 for the condensed fluid and a pump 3 which is operated at a pressure sufficient to prevent evaporation of the liquid upstream of load 10. The liquid may be heated to ambient temperature in heater 5 so that thermal insulation of the pipe-work is unnecessary. A refrigeration plant of either the absorption (Fig. 2, not shown) or compression (Fig. 3, not shown) type may be connected in parallel with load 10 for use when the supply of cold at 1 is insufficient or unavailable.
