Abstract
1,252,518. Change-speed control. DAVID BROWN GEAR INDUSTRIES Ltd. 30 Sept., 1970 [2 Oct., 1969], No. 48532/69. Heading F2D. A spring-loaded detent plunger 24, engaging spaced recesses 29 in a conventional gear selector rod 17, is housed in an eccentric bore 23 of a bush 22 rotatably housed in a bore 20 formed in a gear-casing 10, whereby during assembly of the gear unit, and to overcome the accumulation of production tolerances along the selector rod etc., the bush 22 may be rotated with the detent 24 engaging the central i.e. neutral recess 29 in the selector rod 17 to move the rod 17 axially into a position in which its selector fork 16 positions its clutch sleeve 14 accurately in relation to the selectively engageable dog clutches 12 of the adjacent constant-mesh gears. The bush 22 has a flange 25 at its outer end which engages in a counterbore 21 in the casing 10, and a slot 26 is provided in the flange 25, a hole 30 being formed in the casing 10 in line with the slot 26, and a dowel 27 inserted to locate the bush 22 permanently in the above adjusted position, after which a cover 28 is bolted to the casing 10.
