Abstract

1,252,429. Discharging material from storage bins. G. SCHRODER. 6 Nov., 1968 [15 Feb., 1968], No. 52597/68. Heading B8E. In a storage bin 1 for powdered or liquid material in which the bin is formed of non- rigid plastics material, a false bottom 3 is provided which may be raised in the form of a funnel around a discharge opening 2 by means of compressed air supplied through an inlet 6. The false bottom 3, in its unpressurized state, lies flat against the bottom 4 of the bin and against the wall 5 and is sealed against the wall and against the bottom adjacent the discharge opening. Holding strips 10 are provided which are distributed uniformly around the circumference of the bin. One end of each strip 10 is connected to the false bottom 3 substantially in the middle of its particular radius and the other end is connected to a corresponding point E on the bottom 4, the length b of each strip being shorter than the maximum possible distance a of the false bottom, in the fully inflated state, from its attachment point E. The strips 10 produce a uniformly distributed fold formation in the radial direction. Air from the inlet 6 passes through a mat 7 which is provided with holes interconnected on the underside of the mat by grooves, Figs. 2, 3 (not shown).
