Abstract

1,252,167. Crash barriers. ARBED, ACIERIES REUNIES DE BURBACH-EICH-DUDELANGE S.A. 3 Jan., 1969 [9 April, 1968], No. 500/69. Heading E1G. A crash barrier rail 1 shaped from sheet metal at most 3 mm. thick is of inverted-U channel configuration having an internal width wider than the channel mouth, and has at least one of the channel walls shaped to provide internal convex-concave portions, the rail being supported by a series of flat keys 2 which can be inserted through the channel mouth and turned through 90‹ to interfit with the channel walls. Various cross-sections, with corresponding shapes of key, are illustrated. Each key 2 has a straight or angled stem releasably held in a ground socket 3 by catch 4. The rail 1 is made in long lengths which may be butt-joined by internal sleeves 5; it may have end plugs 6 and may be filled with rubber or plastics. In a modification. Fig. 6 (not shown), the channel is formed from a double metal skin filled with material such as sand.
