Abstract

1,250,184. Air cushion vehicles. BRITISH HOVERCRAFT CORP Ltd. 1 Oct., 1969 [4 Nov., 1968], No. 52190/68. Heading B7K. A flexible skirt for an air cushion vehicle comprises a plurality of flexible separate segments of U-section in plan arranged in side by side relation with each other. Each segment consists of two sheets 15, 16 of flexible material, sheet 15 is folded and reinforced to provide an arcuate cushion barrier part and sheet 16 which is bonded to sheet 15 is reinforced by a member 18 to provide a flat fixing point. Each segment is pivotally attached to the inflatable member (12), Fig. 1 (not shown), by way of a flexible reinforced web (21) via attachment hole 17 and the reinforced tips 19 by suitable releasable fastenings (not shown). Instead of the elongated web (21), each segment could be provided with a discrete web.
