Abstract

1,250,172. Filler cap. TRIDAIR INDUSTRIES. 24 Sept., 1968, No. 45339/68. Heading B8T. A filler cap is provided at its periphery with spaced fingers 10 permitting electrical discharge to the adjoining edge of an adapter ring 13 of a fuel tank while leaving gaps 11 which permit ionized air to be discharged harmlessly to the atmosphere. Shaft 3 is fast with pressure plate 36 and by means of handle 4 can be rotated in a bore 2 of the closure plate 1. Such a rotation causes lugs 30 of retainer ring 22 to abut stop 32 of the adapter ring and lugs 52 of the pressure plate 36 against projections 31. Handle 4 is then depressed to a position flush with the cap, thereby urging the pressure plate 36 against the adapter ring. A lanyard 59 secures the cap to the tank when the cap is removed from the tank orifice. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 798,739.
