Abstract

742,061. Blasting devices. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Nov. 18, 1953 [Jan. 14, 1953], No. 1088/53. Class 9(1) Fluid pressure blasting cartridge shown in the Figure comprises a gasproducing charge in a rigid casing 1 with a gastight closure at one end (not shown) and a venting cap 3 at the other end separated from the casing by an expendible disc 7 adapted to rupture at a given pressure, the disc being made of a rigid synthetic resin material. 1. A resilient washer may be interposed between the disc and the cap. This washer may be integral with the disc. Suitable synthetic resins include polyethylene, nylon, polyvinyl chloride and " Tufnol " (Registered Trade Mark). The charge may be an ammonium nitrate composition consisting of 49 per cent ammonium nitrate, 34 per cent magnesium nitrate hexahydrate, and 17 per cent woodflour.
