Abstract

1,249,998. Scaffolding. M. N. L. VIANDON. 26 Sept., 1968, No. 45808/68. Heading E1S. A tubular scaffolding structure comprises upper and lower booms formed by releasable braces 2 connecting upper and lower members 1 of uprights via external elements formed thereon, the uprights also including intermediate portions 5 provided with holes 6 and telescoping into one or both of the upper and lower members 1, pins or bolts inserted in holes 6 being engaged directly or indirectly with the ends of the members 1 to hold the scaffolding in the adjusted position. The intermediate portion 5 may be made in, two fixed parts or in parts which themselves telescope, either as shown or as units formed by the two upper members 5 shown telescoping into a member similar to one of the members 1 (Fig. 3 not shown). Fine adjustment jacks may be provided at top and bottom of the uprights and jacks may also be provided for assisting the telescoping operation, while fixed or castered wheels may be secured to the lower ends of the structure. These additional devices may be attached to the uprights by self-clamping means. A cam device may be provided between the intermediate portion and an end member for assisting in removal of a locating pin or bolt, the load being scotched.
