Abstract

1,249,550. Retractable writing instruments. PENN CORP. 6 Oct., 1969; No. 49075/69. Heading B6P. A push-button actuated retractable ballpoint or fibre-tip pen comprises a barrel 4 formed at its front end with flexible fingers 18 biased together by a resilient band. 24 to a position where they close the front end of the barrel, the fingers each having a shoulder 28 for co-operation witha camming surface 42 formed on a cartridge 8 of the pen so that when the cartridge is. moved towards the extended position the fingers are separated by the camming surface 42 to prevent the writing tip 39 from touching the barrel.
