Abstract
1,195,100. Retractable ball-point pens. H. BROSS. 21 Nov., 1967 [23 Nov., 1966], No. 52938/67. Heading B6P. In a retractable ball-point pen having a retracting mechanism similar to that of Specification 1,099,569, an additional resilient element is provided to assist in bending the rocker arm 5 back towards its normal untensioned position. In Fig. 2, the additional resilient element comprises a leaf-type spring 4 moulded integrally from plastics material between the push-button 1 and the rocker arm 5. In (Fig. 12), such an element comprises a torsionrod (204) positioned parallel to the longitudinal axis of the pen. In (Fig. 13) the toothed part or control cam (309) and an inclined surface (306), against which the rear end of the ball point cartridge is pressed by a retracting spring (308), are provided on the same free end of the rocker arm (305). The cartridge resiliently bearing against the inclined surface (306) assists in bending the rocker arm back to its normal position. In (Fig. 14), the guide releasing and stop edges which are engaged by the control cam on the rocker arm are provided on a semi-cylindrical extension (425) at the rear end of the pen casing.
