Abstract
124,934. Nicholson, A. April 29, 1918. Shackles.-An overload release coupling comprises a pair of loops A, B, Fig. 1, connected by interengaging screw members or by a pin L and slot K. The loop A is provided with projections F fitted with pivoted springs G, the other ends of which engage projections H on the other loop B and prevent disengagement of the screw and other parts except under excessive stress. In a modification the coupling comprises a pair of pivoted jaws 1, 2, Fig. 4, which may be provided with interengaging serrations, and are kept closed by springs 4, 5 mounted on a rod 3. The jaws may be held closed by a spring 8 which may replace or may be additional to the springs 4, 5, the loop 7 in this form being replaced by a loop 10.
