Abstract

1,249,258. Arc furnaces current supply. FRIED KRUPP HUTTENWERKE A.G. 12 Aug., 1969 [14 Aug., 1968], No. 40329/69. Heading H5H. [Also in Division G3] In an electric arc furnace 1 adapted to be tipped in the course of steel production and having electrodes supplied with three phase current, the electrode electrical power supply line impedances are kept identical during operation of the furnace by shifting the power supply lines. The electrodes 2, 3, 4 and the transformer 5 are connected by the supply lines 9, 10, 11, which are guided above the electrode supporting arms 6, 7, 8 in tubes 12, 13, 14 and the tubes 12, 14 of the two outer supply lines each have a flexible portion 15, 10. Lifting or lowering devices 17, 18, are acted upon by a comparison instrument and a controller (not shown) in dependence upon signals from meters (not shown) for the supply line impedances, so that arms 6, 8, are shifted until the impedances of lines 9, 10, 11, become identical again, if movements of the electrodes by their automatic adjusting set-up (not shown) change these impedances.
