Abstract

1,245,355. Resistance-heated furnaces. VEREINIGTE ALUMINIUM - WERKE A.G. 30 Oct., 1969 [8 Nov., 1968], No. 53322/69. Heading H5H. The heating elements 3 of a metal melting furnace comprise straight bands of rectangular cross-section disposed horizontally in the furnace interior 4 and supported by the walls adjacent the roof, the bands having a depth greater than their width and being disposed, width up, in the furnace. The elements 3 are connected in series by connectors 2 inserted in the mounting openings 1 of the furnace wall and welded to the element ends. Each seriesconnected group of eight elements 3 has its own heavy current/low voltage transformer 5, which may be fixedly mounted on the furnace. The surfaces of the bands are made smooth so that splashes of molten metal do not remain thereon.
