Abstract

1,247,106. Breaking. GEORGE & CIE S.P.R.L. 1 May, 1969 [25 July, 1968], No. 22324/69. Heading B3E. [Also in Division B2] Scrap metal is comminuted by cooling in liquid nitrogen until it attains a temperature between - 60‹ and - 120‹ C., and then compressing it so that it is fragmented. The apparatus comprises a pusher 2 for blocks of compacted metal 8, a cooling tunnel 4 having nitrogen pipes 15; a comminuting crusher piston 9 and a crusher separator or impact pulverizer 14 supplying the fractured metal to a belt conveyer 13.
