Abstract

PURPOSE: To change granule iron into blocks in simple and safe manner by a method wherein granule iron is charged in iron cylinder having opening at the top, the opening is squeezed, and the cylinder is compressed from both top and bottom sides.
CONSTITUTION: Grain material 2 such as steel grit or granule iron magnetically selected from slag is charged into iron or steel cylinder 1 having opening at its top, and the top of the cylinder 1 is squeezed so that grains 2 contained in the cylinder 1 are not spilled out. Then, the cylinder 1 is compressed with high pressure in vertical direction, so that squeezed uneveness at the top is smoothened. The compression pushes out air from the gap between granule iron, and blocked granule iron is produced. Because the block is strongly compressed, rain water or the like cannot permeat into the block. Furthermore, the top part is not sealed, so no explosion will occur when used in metallurgical furnace.
