Abstract

1,246,861. Pure fluid oscillators. CORNING GLASS WORKS. June 5, 1969, No. 28412/69. Heading G3H. A fluid oscillator comprises a chamber 22 provided with an inlet nozzle 20, an outlet 24 slightly offset from the nozzle axis 28, and curved walls 34, 36, 40, 42 which produce reverse flow around the walls to deflect the jet across outlet 24. The frequency of the pulses generated is determined by flow velocity and various fluid characteristics such as the proportion of methane and hydrogen constituting the fluid when the oscillator forms part of a gas chromatography apparatus. In a modification Fig. 2 (not shown) the chamber is provided with a pair of vents (52, 54) in its upper surface.
