Abstract
1,246,762. Two-part couplings. TEKTRONIX Inc. 3 March, 1970 [12 March, 1969], No. 10074/70. Heading H2E. A housing 10 for a plurality of contacts 20 is hinged at 16 such that a slotted portion 14, resiliently gripping the terminal ends of the contacts, may be hinged downwards to the position shown in dot-dashed lines, to remove projection 22 from engagement with the shoulders 24 of the contacts to permit removal of the contacts from the chambers in portions 12. A plurality of such contacts 20 may be housed side by side as in Fig. 1 (not shown), the projection 22 running along the length of the housing. The housing may be integrally moulded in plastics material preferably polypropylene or the two parts 12, 14 may be jointed at 16 by a metallic hinge. A further hinge (Fig. 5, not shown) may be provided on the terminal side of the projection 22 or interlocking projections and contacts may be provided such that gripping slots 26, to hold projections 22 in place, may be dispensed with. A restricted opening 30 prevents the contacts from moving forward out of the housing and permits entry of rectangularly cross-sectioned pins 34 soldered to circuitry 42 of a printed circuit board 40, the contact being adapted to receive said pin. Alternatively the contacts may be in the form of pins, having shoulders to engage restriction 30, to engage sockets mounted on a printed circuit board.
