Abstract

1,246,239. Flare stack burners. SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ N.V. 6 April, 1970, No. 16205/70. Heading F4T. In a process for effecting smokeless combustion of gases containing hydrocarbons in a flare stack burner, a water spray, preferably demineralized water is injected into the base of flame, the droplets of water each having an average diameter of at most 250 microns. A plurality of pressure atomizers may be arranged around the gas tube of the burner, or alternatively one atomizer may be used, positioned within the gas tube, the atomizing pressure in either case being in the range 20-50 kg/cm.<SP>2</SP>
