Abstract

1,245,405. Road and pavement fittings. B. FLETCHER. 26 Sept., 1968 [4 Oct., 1967; 1 Jan., 1968], Nos. 45304/67 and 85/68. Heading E1G. To accommodate, changes in the surrounding level or inclination, a road or pavement fitting such as a manhole cover fits into the upper member of a supporting frame which is adjustable relatively to the lower member of the frame which is mounted over a hole in the road or pavement, the adjustment being effected by threaded members engaging in threaded holes in one frame member and engaging the other frame member so as to be rotatable but not axially movable relatively to it. As shown, 27 indicates a triangular manhole cover in a triangular frame formed by an upper member 20 and a lower member 10a and adjustment is effected by providing at each corner a round headed screw 24 resting in indent 18 and screwing into threaded bore 23. A bolt 25 fixes the upper and lower frame members in the adjusted position. A sealing 0-ring is provided between the frame members.
