Abstract
1,245,340. Curing epoxy resins. DOW CHEMICAL CO. 29 Oct., 1969 [29 Oct., 1968], No. 53067/69. Heading C3B. [Also in Division C2] Epoxide resins, e.g. a diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A, are cured by mixing with a polythioetherpolythiol having a thiol functionality greater than 2À05 which is the reaction product of a polythiol having 2 to 4- SH groups, a polyene compound having 3 or 4 diolefinically unsaturated sites and from 0-300 mol. per cent based on the polyene compound of a diolefinically unsaturated compound e.g. the reaction products of triallyloxypropane and ethanedithiol and propane dithiol and of triallyl isocyanurate or cyanurate, 1,4-diallyloxy-2,5-diallylbenzene and ethanedithiol. Curing catalysts specified are benzyldimethylamine and tetramethylguanidine. The cured films adhere to glass, wood, metal and can be used for making self-supporting sheeting.
