Abstract

1432710 Epoxy-modified polysulphide polymers THIOKOL CORP 4 July 1973 46867/74 Divided out of 1413724 Heading C3R An epoxy-modified polysulphide polymer is used as an adhesive additive in liquid polysulphide based sealant compositions. It is obtained by reacting a liquid polythiol polymer, preferably having a molecular weight of 500 to 4000, with a diepoxide having one epoxy group which is reactive under acid conditions, in the presence of an acid catalyst. It is added in an amount of 0À5 to 5À0 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of liquid polysulphide polymer. In examples a polythiol polymer is reacted with vinyl cyclohexane diepoxide to obtain an epoxy-terminated polysulphide polymer which is incorporated in a liquid polysulphide polymer together with lead peroxide and zinc peroxide curing agents and other usual' ingredients to obtain sealant compositions.
