Abstract
1,244,769. Evaporators, film-type. MACHINENFABRIEK STORK-VOLMA N.V. 13 Dec., 1968 [22 Dec., 1967], No. 59443/68. Heading B1B. In an evaporator comprising a heating- jacket 7 surrounding a plurality of vertical tubes 9, 10, 11 connecting a liquid-feed compartment 2 to a lower compartment 4, these compartments are each provided with a circular separating wall 12, 13, respectively, the arrangement being such that the liquid flows down tubes 9 to compartment 4 and reservoir 21, where the liquid is separated from vapour, the liquid is then pumped up through tubes 11 to compartment 2 and finally flows down tubes 10 to receiver 17. The liquid to be concentrated is supplied at moderate pressure and in a heated condition via connection 3. Partial flash vaporization takes place in subcompartment 14, and the vapour-liquid mixture enters tubes 9, the liquid flowing down the inside surfaces of the tubes in film-form. After rising through tubes 11, further partial flash vaporization takes place in subcompartment 16, and the liquid then flows in filmform down the inside surfaces of tubes 10. Concentrated liquid is withdrawn from receiver 17 through connection 23. Tubes 9 and 10 are arranged in two annuli around the central bundle of tubes 11.
