Abstract
1,053,760. Evaporators; horizontal heating- tube types. L'AIR LIQUIDE SOC ANOM POUR L'ETUDE ET L'EXPLOITATION DES PROCEDES GEOGES CLAUDE. Nov. 21. 1963 [Nov. 22, 1962], No. 46104/63. Heading BIB. In an evaporator composed of two or more heat-exchanger elements joined end-to-end but separated by partitions 9, each element comprising a bundle of horizontal tubes 2 for the heating medium, and a surrounding envelope for causing the liquid to be evaporated to flow over the outside of the tubes, and an outer casing 1, there is a gutter 8, formed by an inclined sheet 7 and a vertical sheet 12 on each side of the envelope, and each gutter leads to an opening 13 in the partition 9. The apparatus is suitable for the re-vaporization of hydrocarbon fractions condensed during the liquefaction of natural gas. The heating gas (i.e. gas to be condensed) is introduced into the tubes of an element at one end of the apparatus, and the liquid-to-be-evaporated is introduced into the lower part of the outer casing of the element at the opposite end. The liquid passes through inlet 10 in envelope 3. and flows up over and between the tubes. A mitxure of liquid and vapour leaves the envelope through outlet 11. the liquid flows down the gutters 8, and the liquid and vapour enter the next element through the openings 13 in partition 9.
