Abstract

1,244,612. Knitting-machines. WILLIAM COTTON Ltd. 9 Dec., 1968 [30 Dec., 1967], No. 59288/67. Heading D1C. In the narrowing head of a straight-bar machine having points 17 deflected into operative position by blades 22, the blades are selected by plates 60 movable electromagnetically. The plates are movable horizontally by electromagnets 64 to position butts 62 above the tops 22a of the blades. When the narrowing head is raised engagement of the butts and blade tops deflects selected points. The electromagnets are energised by microswitches (65, 66, Fig. 2 not shown) in a control division actuated by pivoted selectors (26). The selectors are similar to and can be selected from control drums, tape, or slidable stop bars similarly to those described in Specification 58558/67.
