1,244,384. Making cables. MANUFACTURE DE FILS ISOLES TAURUS. 24 Dec., 1968 [28 Dec., 1967], No. 61479/68. Heading H1A. [Also in Division B3] Apparatus for manufacturing insulated conductive wire comprises a wire-drawing machine 2 and an enamelling machine 1, each driven by individual motors, which are combined in that the wire F emerging from the final die of the wire-drawing machine passes, without slipping, round a capstan 13 which is driven by the enamelling machine motor. This arrangement is achieved either by providing a finishing die 12 at the output of the wire-drawing machine, as shown, or by omitting the last wire-drawing cone 15b of the wire-drawing machine (Fig. 2, not shown) so that the wire passes directly on to the capstan 13 of the enamelling machine. A wire-drawing machine " with slipping " is used, and in order to leave a margin for the slipping of the wire, the speed of the wiredrawing machine is arranged to be always greater than that of the enamelling machine.
