Abstract

1,213,932. Stranding apparatus. E. VORNMAUMEN [trading as E. VORNBAUMEN & CO], 23 Jan., 1969 [14 Feb., 1968], No. 3909/69. Heading D1T. In the stranding apparatus shown the reels 6 are carried in a cradle 1a having a stranding head 7 geared to rotate in the same direction as, and at substantially twice the speed of, a flyer 2a, 2b; there being deflectors 120 on the flyer for feeding the stranded material without any further twist out of the apparatus in the opposite direction to that in which the filament 19 are fed from the reels 6 to the stranding head 7. The cradle 1a carries a core wire reel 18, an axially displaceable lay plate 121, a stranding nipple 122, and a roller system 123 ensuring that the stranded product receives a rotational speed synchronous with the stranding head 7. The gearing 124, 125 may be replaced by infinitely variable gearing.
