Abstract

1,244,368. Electro-statographic development. RANK XEROX Ltd. Dec.12, 1968 [Dec. 14, 1967], No. 59218/68. Heading G2H. Latent electrostatic images on a photoconductive or insulating surface are developed using a cohesive insulating developer layer coated on a substrate and comprising a colourant dispersed in a binder, by contacting and then separating the surface and developer layer so that the latter fractures imagewise giving a positive image on one of the substrate and surface and a negative image on the other thereof. The developer layer is preferably rendered cohesively weak before use, e.g. by an insulating liquid or a molten solid. One of the images may be transferred to a receptor sheet.
