Abstract

1,244,071. Figure-eight railway. A. SCHWARZKOPF [trading as ANTON SCHWARZKOPF], 24 Feb., 1969 [30 July, 1968], No. 9847/69. Heading A6M. A figure-eight railway comprises a closed track mounted on steel frames in which the first downhill section 33 extends from the uppermost point at one end of the device to the other end of the device close to the ground and passes into a curved section 34 with a camber of 80‹. The curved section may be followed by a steeply rising section 35 or by a rising spiral curved section 39 which passes through at least 540‹. Several cambered curves 34 of different radii and in slightly different horizontal planes may be disposed at the lower end of the device. A track structure for use in the device comprises metal tubes 2 joined by transverse and diagonal struts forming a lattice. Braking of the carriage may be achieved by contact between brake rails 25 and the metal tubes 2 when the carriage is lifted.
