1,243,228. Containers for physiological solutions. OTSUKA PHARMACEUTICAL CO. Ltd. 11 Dec., 1968 [11 April, 1968], No. 58780/ 68. Heading ASR. A container for dispensing physiological solutions, which may be fabricated from polyethylene, comprises a flexible, transparent and heat resistant ampoule member 1 of oval or round section having a side wall 4 with graduation marks, a bottom end wall 3 having an aperture 10 with a tubular extension 11, which is initially sealed by a member (12), Fig. 5 (not shown), having a projection (13) with internal ribs (23) for gripping a needle (14) used to withdraw the solution through extension 11, and a top end wall 2 provided with a larger member 8 with an opening 9 and a second opening 27 for holding an injection needle, an aperture 5 over which is mounted a tubular continuation 6 having a thin top wall 7 of 0.2 to 0.4 mm. thickness also being provided in the top wall 2. The walls 2, 3 and 4 are preferably of 0.5 to 1.0 mm thickness. Additional medicines may be added to the contents of the ampoule by injection through the thin wall 7. A needle (24) having a holder (25) with a sterilised filter (26) may be inserted in the hole so made in the wall 7 so that air may enter the ampoule as the contents are withdrawn through the opening 10 without deformation of the wall 4. The withdrawing needle (14) has a conical end (15) terminating in a sharp point (16), and holes (18) from the centre bore (17) leading to grooves (19) on the outer surface of the conical end (15).
