Abstract

1,242,272. False twist crimping. ALGEMENE KUNSTZIJDE UNIE N.V. 29 Oct., 1968 [30 Oct., 1967], No. 51303/68. Headings DID and D1F. Synthetic yarn is crimped by passing it along a path for a first time, returning the yarn to the path for a second time, twisting the lengths of yarn as they pass along the path and subsequently separating the yarn lengths. The yarn is drawn, heated and cooled during crimping. As shown, the yarn is passed twice in a twisted path between rods 11 and 16. The yarn lengths are twisted about each other in opposite directions on either side of twisting pin 18, which inserts false twist into the yarn. At the start of operation the yarn lengths pass on either side of pin 18 and the spindle 10 is then rotated manually to insert the required number of turns of twist in the yarn lengths. The yarn can be heated prior to twisting. The yarn can be drawn prior to twisting or after the yarn has passed along the twisting path for a first time, see Figs. 1 and 2, not shown.
