Abstract

1,241,968. Feeding sheets. XEROX CORP. 22 Oct., 1968 [25 Oct., 1967], No. 50001/68. Heading B8R. A double-sheet feed e.g. 21, 22 is detected by passage between plates 12 and 13 apertured at 14 and in communication with a source of suction via conduits 33 and 34. A combination of the suction from conduits 33 and 34 and air drawn in at the right hand end, Fig. 3, of the passage causes sheet 21 to become -adhered to plate 13 and sheet 22 to plate 14. The resulting drop in pressure in both chambers 16 and 17 causes actuation of two relays which stop the sheet feed. In normal operation a single sheet becomes adhered to only one plate (12 or 13), only one relay is actuated and there is no stopping of the feed.
