[Also in Division H2] In an electrically-driven centrifugal pump wherein part of the impeller 36, 37 is formed by an integral extension of the armature 30 of an electric induction motor, high-pressure fluid leaking around the impeller periphery into the motor housing returns to the inlet region of the impeller via clearances between opposed members 40, 42 and between sleeves 32, 44, thereby serving a cooling function and causing thrust washer 43 to be axially loaded against thrust ring 41.
