Abstract
1,241,850. Crimping and dyeing synthetic fibres. VEPA A.G. 15 Nov., 1968 [15 Nov., 1967], No. 54358/68. Addition to 1,151,317. Heading D1L. A continuous length of polyester fibres in the form of tow or slivers is successively crimped, pad-dyed and heated in air preferably at 170‹- 230‹C. by passage over rotary suction sieve drums to set both the crimp and dye. As shown, a series of rollers 1 forms a uniform ribbon of filaments which passes through a bowl 2 for applying a finishing agent and equalising the humidity of the filaments. The ribbon then passes through two sets of drawing units 3, heating ducts 4 between units 3, a roller control 6, crimping device 5, material accumulator 7, pad dyeing unit 8, suction sieve drums 9, sieve drum washing bowls 10, manglers 11 and a further act of sieve drum driers 12. The tows are finally folded in to cams 15 by a tow packing unit 14. The packing unit may be replaced by a cutting or tearing unit followed by a baiting press.
