Abstract

1,241,638. Knitting machines. CLUTSOMPENN INTERNATIONAL Ltd. 5 May, 1970 [27 May, 1969], No. 26611/69. Heading D1C. A guide bar shogging mechanism for a warp machine comprises a driving unit having a variable profile cam face 9-11 and a follower 7-8 which transmits movement to the bar, and a programme unit PU which preselects the extent of the movement. The follower rod 7 is oscillated up and down so that roller 8 engages faces 9, 11 of slides 14, 15 which are joined by link 10 or overlap while the rod is shogged by one slide the position of the other is being adjusted by the unit PU. The slides are accurately locked in position by interengaging teeth on the slides and blocks 25, 26 released when selection occurs. The overlap stroke of the follower of an alternative arrangement is faster than the underlap stroke. The pattern unit may comprise an additive series of pneumatic or hydraulic cylinders controlled electromagnetically from a peg board or tape. Alternatively a pattern chain may be used.
