Abstract

1,094,924. Knitting-machines. BENTLEY ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Sept. 14, 1964 [Sept. 20, 1963], No. 37105/63. Heading D1C. In a circular knitting-machine a control drum is racked by pawls at a selected stroke or strokes during a period of activation of the pawls. The pawls 6, 7 are activated by a bit on the pattern chain and are driven to rack a ratchet wheel 5 fixed to the control drum. Projections 9 on a wheel 8 also rotating with the drum raise bars 2-4 which bluff the pawls via a link work 11-17. The bars are retracted in sequence from the projection engaging position so that they are available in turn for bluffing the pawls. The bar 1 may be raised to bluff the pawls and prevent rotation of the drum until the following period of activation.
