In an Ambler type drafting mechanism each intermediate unit consists of a double tension roller and flume assembly comprising flume 16, 17 and top tension rollers 11, 12 and there being a longitudinal shaft bottom roller 15 common to both tension rollers. Each unit is located in a two part housing 20, 21, each housing part having a tension loading weight which applies a predetermined pressure to the top rollers 11, 12. The housing is pivotally and detachably mounted between a pair of bracket supports (not shown).
