Abstract

1,241,535. Wire fencing. BEKAERT S.A. N.V. 6 March, 1970 [6 March, 1969], No. 10977/70. Heading E1B. [Also in Division F2] A fence post p2 comprises a channel section bar 5 having a plurality of stretchers 16 for fence wires rotatably mounted in slots 19 therein, the fence wires being threaded through holes 18 in a cylindrical portion and wound therearound when the stretcher is rotated by a spanner engaging a square end portion 28, and being held in the tensioned state by a ratchet wheel 2' having teeth engaging a tooth 27 on a member 26 bolted to the bar 5. For a junction post two channel bars are welded together with a flange of one abutting the web of the other. A base plate having holes through which ground engaging pegs may be passed is welded to the bottom of the bar or bars, and stays having similar base plates are welded to the sides of the bars. In a modification the channel bars are secured within an outer post body which may be metal or plastics and which has bushed holes through which the wires pass and holes with removable caps through which access to the square ends 28 is obtained. The stretchers and bars are of galvanized iron or steel.
