Abstract
1,241,129. Gas cutting. KOIKE SANSO KOGYO CO. Ltd. 25 March, 1969, No. 15570/69. Heading B3V. A method of detecting a non-cutting condition in a gas cutting operation comprises ejecting a pressurized fluid near a gas nozzle 1 and detecting the back pressure produced as a result of the gas from the nozzle 1 being a non-cutting gas flame or an unignited gas flow. During a normal cutting operation, compressed air is ejected from a jet 2 so that the pressure at a port 6 is equivalent to atmospheric. When the flame spreads out and no longer cuts the work 11, the flame is engaged by the compressed air from the jet 2 causing the air to be heated. A negative pressure is thereby generated at the port 6 causing a pressure switch (9) (Fig. 1, not shown) to be actuated. When the flame is extinguished, a positive pressure is generated at the port 6 causing a pressure switch (10) to be actuated.
