Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the production of burrs on the inside surface of a cut end and to obtain the good cut face by inserting a centering body which ejects a compressed gas into a pipe body, maintaining the inside pressure in the part intended to be cut higher than the outside pressure and cutting the pipe body. CONSTITUTION:A pipe body 1 is inserted through supporters 11, 11 and is set upright, thence an air cylinder 36 is operated to insert a centering body 37 into the bottom end part of the body 1. When the body 1 is held by three rollers 17, 17, 22 and compressed air 42 is fed into the body 37, the air 42 ejects from a gas pocket 38 and presses the inside wall surface 40 of a position 30 intended to be cut, thereby centering said position accurately. Next, the body 1 is rotated by operating one roller 17 with a motor 18, and a laser beam 28 is irradiated to the position 30 by operating a laser oscillator 26, thereby cutting said position. At this time, the molten member is scattered to the outside by the pressure of the air 42, and is thereby prevented from sticking on the inside of the body 1.
