Abstract

124,069. Carey, R. F. March 22, 1918. Revolving-cylinder pumps.-In pumps of the kind in which a cylinder-carrying rotor co-operates with a stationary valve plate, a. bearing is provided on one side only of the rotor 5, Fig. 1, and means are provided to counteract the moment tending to tilt the rotor. These means may consist of pressure areas 7 at the back of the floating valve-plate 6 which may be provided with a throwover valve as described in Specification 111,692, or of a plate carried by the rotor so as to be capable of slight longitudinal movement relative to the rotor, said plate working over the end face of the pump casing in which inlet and exhaust ports are formed. In another form, the casing is formed with ports 8, Fig. 5, and a slight clearance is allowed between the rotor and the casing at that end.
