Abstract

1,240,034. Washing machines. INDUSTRIE A. ZANUSSI S.p.A. 17 Jan., 1969 [13 Feb., 1968], No. 2876/69. Heading D1A. In a washing machine wherein the washing tank 11 is mounted to permit oscillating movement due to the main rotary or rotary reciprocating motion of the machine, one or more balast containers 26 is mounted on the tank which is not deformed appreciably when ballast is introduced but may be deformed by high pressure fluid to engage fixed parts of the washing machine. The machine comprises a drum rotatable about a horizontal axis within the tank which is mounted on springs 23 and shock absorbers 24. In a modification, spacers are positioned between the walls of the housing and the containers 26. Containers 26 may have means for heating the ballast water for use in washing.
