In a tilted roller castor assembly, having means for attachment to an article of furniture, a metal or plastics roller R, mounted in an annular part 34 of a housing H to rotate on an axis at 45 degrees to the vertical, has a bevelled and/or curved peripheral surface 43 of its end wall 36 in contact with the ground, and a flange 41 exending towards the overlapping part 34 of the housing to prevent or reduce entry of foreign matter. The end wall 36 has an annular recess 46, forming a flexible lip 47 to improve the side of the castor, and a recessed, upstanding core 37, connected to the side wall 40 by webs (48). The roller is connected to a stud 27, received in a bore 24 in an anchor plug A glued in a socket in an article of furniture, by a metal frame F enclosed in the housing and having a limb 10 journalled in the core 37 and a limb 14 received in the socket in the stud 27 and retained therein by a split spring ring 29. In a modification, the castor assembly is connected to a piece of furniture by a metal or plastics housing having a dome-like part in which the roller is mounted on a stub shaft anchored in a boss in the dome-like part, and a well in which a stud, mounted on a bracket secured the the article by wood screws, is rotatably received and retained. In further modifications, the housing is rotatably secured on an extension of a fixed pin frictionfitted in an annular flange depending from a plastics attachment base, friction roller bearings or a plastics bushing being interposed between the housing and the annular flange. The base has a depending skirt closing off the swivel mechanism and the plastics bushing has a groove to contain oil.
