1348631 On-and-off castors K BRUUN 19 April 1971 [23 Feb 1970] 8558/70 Heading A4U In a swivellable, on-and-off castor assembly for a sofa leg 2, Fig. 1, the shaft 14 of the wheel 10 is mounted in a bracket 12 which is pivoted at 16 to an arm 18 of the vertical swivel pin 8 and is lowered relatively to the wheel 10 to bring its base 20 into contact with the floor when the sofa is loaded. A compression spring 22 acts between the arm 18 and the bracket to maintain the base out of contact with the floor when the sofa is unloaded. The lower end of the spring rests on a forked end 30 of a V-shaped member 28 the end 32 of which engages a non-rotable nut 34 on a screw 36 supported in a cross-bar 38 for adjustment of the force of the spring. In a modification, shown in Fig. 3, the wheel shaft 14 is mounted in vertical slots 72 in walls 70 in a wheel box 60 having a socket 62 for the swivel pin 64, the wheel being projected through a hole 76 in the bottom plate 74, which forms the support surface, by arms 96 of a pivot member 78 rockably mounted in the box under the influence of a spring 94 which is adjusted by a stop nut 92.
