Abstract

1,238,287. Workpiece clamping. MOLINS MACHINE CO. Ltd. 29 Jan., 1969 [2 Nov., 1967], No. 49919/67. Heading B3B. [Also in Division F2] A pallet 1 has a workpiece 12 and supporting member 3 clamped thereto by means of a screw 4 which clamps the support member to the pallet and which includes a tapped hole by which means the workpiece 12 is clamped by a screw 15 to the support member. A clamping member 13 may be used to bear on the workpiece. The screw 4 includes a plain shank which acts as a dowel in a hole in the support member and a counterbored part of a tapped hole 2 in the pallet 1. The holes 2 may be part of a square grid pattern of holes on the pallet 1. The support member 3 has raised support portions 11, which may be of various configurations, and the clamping member 13 has matching or suitable clamping portions 14. To prevent swarf entering the tapped hole in the screw 4, a removable washer may be used. The support member may be positioned on the pallet by use of a template.
