An electrically heated roller for treating filamentary material consists of an outer magnetic shell 10 sealed to an inner sleeve 12, the annular space between them being filled with a heat transfer fluid, and a fixed iron core 28 which carries an A.C. coil 30. The core is secured to a support 18 by bolts 36 passing through insulating washers 34, while the shell 10 has a hub portion 20 secured by a nut 24 to the end of an internal trunnion drive shaft 16.
